Above are the scans for a Canadian 1st CEF Batallion, 1st Infantry Battalion (Western Ontario) "C over1" collar badge. Made of brass. Two original lugs on the back in excellent condition. Comes clearly marked with a "Tiptaft - B'Ham" hallmark.


At the onset of WWI, volunteers from Southwestern Ontario were mobilized at Camp Valcartier in Quebec during August of 1914. They sailed for England on October 3rd 1914, after a period of basic training. 1153 members were part of this first contingent to be sent into the frey. The battalion served in France and Belgium with 1st Infantry brigade, Canadian 1st Division throughout the war. First to fight!
