above are the scans of this WWI 2nd Battalion CEF Cap Badge. Made of white metal, it has a "tang" type fastener, and has some age patina.
This battalion came from the region of eastern Ontario. They were headquartered at Val-Cartier, Quebec, and sailed for England on October 3rd 1914 (one of the first to fight). The battalion had 1143 members, one of the largest formed in WWI. They entered the frey and served with the 1st Canadian Infantry brigade of the 1st Canadian Division throughout the war.
