You are viewing a vintage CEF WWI First Depot Battalion Cap badge. Made of browng copper, with both copper with both original horizontal lugs in good order. This is a high quality badge design with no chips. or dents. Note the"No 1 overseas training depot" motif which appears at the bottom of this excellent badge.

This battalion was most likely based in Valcartier, Quebec. Due to the site's proximity to the Quebec City harbour, Valcartier was hastily set up as a military camp upon the commencement of the First World War, ultimately becoming the largest military base on Canadian soil during the war and serving as the main embarkation point for troops headed to Europe.
