WWI 7th CEF Railway Troops Cap Badge (officer)
#00001811
Above are the scans for this WWI vintage 7th CEF Railway Troops officer grade cap badge. The badge is in excellent overall condition. However the badge has had both lugs clipped by a previous owner, most likely for display purposes. Made of browning brass with a silver overlay. It is hallmarked "Gaunt London" on the obverse just under the crown. A clean badge with very nice patina giving evidence to its age, and a rare find for any collector of Canadian CEF badges.
This Battalion was originally called the 257th CEF Infantry battalion when they sailed for England in 1917. Upon arrival they were re-designated the 7th Canadian Railway Troops.
