WWII era Canadian Armored corps Collar badge
#00001791
The scans above show a white metal collar badge for the Canadian Armored Corps. This badge was very similar in design to the British version, but note the "Canada" in the scrolling at the bottom. Made using the stamping method, and still in very good condition with original lug type fasteners in good order.
During WW2 it was becoming apparent that armor had become the most powerful aspect of the armed services and had replaced the cavalry. This corps was formed to hold reinforcements for other armored regiments. This badge was a kind of "general list" badge for the armored corps. At the end of WW2, in 1945, the corps was renamed the "Royal Canadian Armored Corps"
