Above you may view a vintage BEF cap badge for the Scottish Horse.The Scottish Horse Mounted Brigade was a formation of the Territorial Force of the British Army. The brigade was raised in November 1914 just after the start of the First World War. They served in the campaign at Gallipoli where the Scottish Horse was sent to reinforce the 2nd Mounted Division in September 1915.Then in February 1916, the survivors were taken into the 1st Dismounted Brigade, under the command of the 52nd (Lowland) Division to defend the Suez Canal. Two of the regiments, the 1st and 2nd, were converted to the 13th (Scottish Horse Yeomanry) Battalion, Black Watch. While the 3rd Scottish Horse became the 26th (Scottish Horse) Squadron, Machine Gun Corps in October 1916.
