This is an excellent replica of a WWII era Knight's Cross. It is a larger format than the Iron Cross first class, in good condition. It has a hallmark "L-?12" (view scans). The ribbon appears to be "original" and has that slightly orange-red color typical of the period. Modern replica ribbons tend to be "redder". The give away, is the edge of the cross ... no seam.
It is noteworthy that at the end of WWII many of the badge makers continued to make these badges to sell to the occupying allied forces. They no longer had the controls of the discriminating Nazis so there were numerous short cuts taken in producing these replicas. This is common knowledge, especially where daggers are concerned. I believe this item is one of those. (Your input is invited)
