Above are the scans for this WWI 53rd Battalion collar badge we are offering at this time. This rare example is complete with both original small tang type fasteners as found. A "browning copper" o/r cap badge, with very nice patina giving evidence to its age.


Formed during the summer of 1915 and headquartered i n Winnipeg, these prairie boys, lead by Lt. col. Dennistown, trained through the fall and winter and with a force of 1098 members , one of the largest battalions of the CEF, sailed for England on March 29th, 1916. The battalion was later to become part of the 15th Canadian Reserve Battalion...
