History:

This battalion was raised from volunteers from the prairie around Edmonton Alberta, with HQ in Edmonton. Formed during the summer of 1915, the 51st sailed for England on March 4th, 1916, with a strength of 1092 members, under command of Lt.Col. R. Del. Harwood. Upon Arrival in England, they served as a garrison battalion, training and equipping new arrivals, and supplying troops for the field..
