You are viewing a vintage "Dieu Et Mon Droit" Victorian era Militia Buckle. This rare find may date back to before the Boar War years. The two part buckle itself appears to be made of age darkened heavy brass or bronze. This type was part of the standard Canadian uniform and used up into the Boar War days of the late19th Century. Excellent design features still remain clear and distinct.
